The Youth Homeless Parliament was established 4 years ago, aiming to ensure the promotion of a positive and collective youth voice for young homeless people and Government officials. On Tuesday 21st March 2017 St Basil’s facilitated The 2017 Youth Homeless Parliament (YHP) at the House of Commons, Westminster, London.
Over 100 young people from across England who form the ‘Youth Homeless Parliament’ (YHP) assembled at Parliament on Tuesday 21st March 2017 to share recommendations on the implementation of the Homeless Reduction Bill with Minister for Local Government Marcus Jones MP.
100 homeless young people, supported by 9 agencies across England, are gearing up for the next Youth Homeless Parliament (YHP) which is facilitated by St Basils and will be taking place on 21st March 2017, at Parliament in Westminster, London.
Housing is an essential commodity. Yet like me, most of us take these places that we call ‘home’ for granted. But if you take a step back and think about it, our homes are actually a fundamental foundation in our lives, which enable us to prosper both socially and economically. Take our homes away from us, and we become stripped of power, security, hope and a sense of future.
This month has seen the first of the young and homeless focus group meet up.
