Youth Homeless Parliament is an annual event that has been running since 2013. The event is managed and facilitated by St Basils’ Youth Voice team and works in partnership with homeless charities to support homeless young people to have their voices heard in Parliament with Ministers and Civil Servants. There were 8 partners who attended Youth Homeless Parliament 2019, these were; St Basils, YHNE, Centrepoint, Depaul UK, Roundabout, Forum Housing, and YMCA; supported by Homeless Link and Land aid.
167 young people completed a digital consultation, where their feedback and experience was developed into a report discussed in Parliament. 35 homeless young people spoke on behalf of the wider group, to discuss the issues surrounding homelessness and the impact experiencing homelessness has on their lives; continuing dialogue between young people and Ministers, with aim to shape policy and legislation surrounding youth homelessness.
The event was a great success! The Youth Voice would like to thank all the young people involved, all partners and Government Minsters and Civil Servants.
The Youth Homeless Parliament 2019 report will be released later in the year
